although a general question and something I will not DIY, I have a bungalow where the attic was sprayed with blown-in insulation R50. The ceilings are popcorn and I'm going to reconfigure a couple walls, and add some pot lights. I can't get to wrap my head around this problem - if a contractor takes the ceiling down won't the insulation come flying down on his head? do they have to "move" the insulation around in the attic first? THis is going to be a really messy job no? OR do they just install thinner drywall over top of the existing ceiling?If

I have an older house (almost 90 years old) with plaster walls and ceilings. We had some water damage, in the living area downstairs that tore some painted wallpaper off our ceilings. I would like to hang bead board on the ceilings to cover everything (and to match our front entry way) but I have never worked with plaster before. How do I fasten it securely to the ceilings? I am a band new retired, DIY-er so please be specific. I also want to patch some cracks in the wall where I tore off painted wallpaper. It looks like I've lived in a construction zone for years since I didn't know how to proceed. Please give me your feedback so I can repair it all.
