Ceiling Leak
Hello,
We had a couple leaks from our AC coil in the attic where condensation leaked onto the ceiling sheetrock. Water did not drip through the ceiling.
My question is, can I put Kilz over the spots and repaint or do I need to replace the sheetrock?
There are about 4 spots, each about the size of a dinner plate. The coil has been replaced which should prevent a recurrence.

The leak is probably from a plugged pan and no emergency pan was present.
If this is a recent event, you need to give the ceiling time to completely dry out. Then prime the area with a oil based stain blocking primer before painting. If still wet, the primer and paint will have a hard time drying and adhering properly.

Thanks for your replies. There was a secondary drain pan, but it was rusted through as well. The AC is now fixed and condensation is draining correctly.
I figured I will give it seem time, several weeks, and then will use as you suggested, the oil-based primer.
Thanks!
