HELP! I want to remove my acoustic textured ceiling but have little knowledge on how to do it properly.
I have heard that one can remove it easily by spraying small sections at a time thoroughly with water
by way of a hudson sprayer and then scraping. What would one scape with?
Is there a better way to do this and what about dusty residue that may continue falling from the 'scraped'
ceilng. I've heard people having problems with this messy aftermath. What can I do to prevent this as well? The ceiling in question in my home is coved as well. No sharp corners.
Please reply soon.

Cool

You have the right idea.
Spray lightly with water and scrape it off. Some people use a Windex-type spray bottle.
Cover floor and hang walls with plastic sheeting (this is a messy job).
Start in a small section, spray just enough (experiment) water on ceiling texture to moisten it so that you can scrape it off without damaging the ceiling.
Use a 12" sheetrock blade.
Repair tape and sheetrock. Sand spots. Prime and paint.
Good Luck!
