Removing existing sheet rock and have some questions
I have a family room that is not in the ground but I have a 5' heigh concrete block wall with wood studs then 1/2" sheet rock. I want to take out the sheet rock and drylock the wall and then insulate and then add new 1/2" blue board sheet rock. I think that would be the best down there, it dose get damp down there. I was thinking of going with 5/8" but not shore if I should? The other problem is I have hot water baseboard heats down both sides of the walls, that are from 1963, There not the noraml small size there a little bigger. My question is do I just cut the old dry wall to the top of them and replace from there up or replace all the way down. I would like to do it right and replace all the way down but I have no idea how to remove the old baseboards? How is it down and can it be done with out remove the pipes and fins?
thanks

You say the FR is not in the ground but is it part way below grade? Have you identified where and during what seasons the source of the water/moisture?
If it is just humidity, your concrete floor can be responsible for gallons of water per day so addressing the wall may not help. If it is an actual water leak, that is best addressed from the outside by diverting all run off away from the foundation.
Pictures would help.

There is no water coming in anywhere, its just humidity. There is no insulation in the walls, so this it really for insulation and adding a vb to the walls. The drylock was just an extra. The floor is concrete slab with plastic then the flooring. My plan is to drylock the floor in the future.

Are they electric or hot water baseboards?
Dri loc on the walls is not going to fix this problem.
There's several thousands post on this site and any other DIY site about basement moisture issues.
If you go up to search and take a look it should ansewer all your questions.
Running a dehumidifier 24/7 would be my first step.
There's no need for 5/8 rock on a wall.
Blue board is only water resistant on the side facing out.

hot water baseboards
yep, I'm doing all this to insulate the existing walls. That's my real goal here. I was thinking of doing blown in but I want to add a vb too. So that's why I'm taking down the walls.
ok
i did not know that!!
thanks
