stucco over plaster
#1
I just bought an old house and all the ceilings have stucco over the plaster. Any idea how to get the stucco off the ceilings? Using a chisel is very hard and taking a long time.

How old is your house? what year was it built?
If you have a house that was built in the 1920's well hate to tell you this, but that's the style they had back then, But if you want to remove this stuff from the ceiling and walls, what you will need to get is a hand grinder, get a pack of 36 grit sanding disc, Home Depot will have everything you'll need, the grinder and the disc, what you'll need to do is get a bakker type scaffolding so you can reach the ceiling, then put on a dust mask, put up some plastic drop over the door ways, put a fan in the window blowing out, or you could get a dust collector like we use,
then have at it, grind it down then you can basecoat then skimcoat the ceiling, Good luck
