partial bathroom tear down and re-walling
Hi All,
I've been reading a lot on this forum on a lot of how to stuff and recently i've been tackling a diy bathroom renovation on my own. anyway, i'm at a stopping point of tearing down my bathroom walls due to tent fumigation.
a little background on my bathroom project. priviously the shower walls and shower head were pretty low so i needed to raise the tiled area of the walls higher along with the shower head. the original tiled shower walls was made of 1 inch of wire mesh reinforced concrete which i spent 3 days chiseling away, behind and above that is a plaster/concrete like material that is easier to chisel but it is also reinforced by a larger sized metal wire. now the question is, I want to now install durock where the wall has been taken out, how should i join the durock and the original wall?

Was the original plan to take out all walls? What is "tent Fumigation"? Kind of need to see a picture so that I know what is left and right of the space. May have to fur the wall out before hanging cement board. This will make sure that all elements already in place will work (tub spout, trim kit and handle, etc.). There also is probably a colorization line on the tub from where the old wall used to be that won't come off. Due you need to add a nailing surface for the cement board? All things that a pictures will answer for me.

I assume 'tent fumigation' is tenting the whole house for termites ??
