Question Drywall: Vertical or Horizontal for walls?

This may be a stupid question, or it may just be up to personal preference, but should sheetrock be installed vertially or horizontally on walls? I've got 8' walls in a new office and I'm just wondering which installation would be better? Or if there's actually a specific code for wall installation.

Horizontal makes for easier joint taping and mudding.

It also helps to hide any discrepancies in the framing.

In residential drywall is installed horizontally, In commercial is it installed vertically. Commercial is also installed with 5/8" on the walls and steel studs at 24" O.C.

I've seen most commercial jobs hung horizontally, but I suppose it all depends. In residential, the only time I would hang anything vertically would be on a short wall that's less than 4' long. Only because it is eliminating the taping on that wall. Side walls in a closet, for example.
