Removing parts of load bearing wall

I want to remove a section of a load bearing wall, this wall was just a divider of the living room and dining room which already has a large opening with a header. I want to remove all of the other studs and leave the header with the kind stud and jack stud in place. Am I able to do this safely assuming the it is still supporting by the already existing header?

If it is truly a "load bearing wall", then no, you can't remove any of the studs! If you did, what would be carrying the load where the studs used to be? The header is supporting everything above the large opening. The other studs are supporting everything else.
