Do I need a backer board on concrete ?

Hi guys first poster and major project for myself

I am in process installing backer board, one of my wall in concrete.

My question is can I tile on to the concrete and with joint to a backer board?

If yes do I just use cement joint tape for the corner?

Thanks for the tips, hopefully picture helps

Welcome to the forums! Normally you can adhere tile directly to concrete, but in your case it seems so rough, that unless you grind it smooth, it may be best to install a backer or even use a Schluter product over it to give a smoother surface for the tile to stick to. Is your cbu sitting proud of the wall in the lower right dog leg you made? Seems it needs to be flush more. How is that cbu attached to the wall, and where is the vapor barrier? Just a couple of observations.

What's on the other side of the block wall? Would you benefit from furring it out, insulating and then installing a vapor barrier and cement board?

Good eyes guys, i had the board on just to see how much i have to trim to fit on it, it was not nailed in. The vapor barrier was then installed.

The other side of the concrete would be the next door, as i live in a condo towhhouse.
