Ceiling restoration

Hi,
I just purchased a 10 yr old mobile home and the textured ceiling is falling down. Not the whole ceiling just little pieces. I have little pieces in almost every room and I hate to have to vac everyday. Is there anything we can do to stop the deterioration of the ceiling? Please hepl. I look forward to hearing from any of you. Thanks Sissybug

Chances are that water caused the damage. Look on the roof & tell us what you see.

Welcome to the forums!

Is the ceiling original to the MH? has someone applied a texture over the MH ceiling? Are there brown stains on the ceiling?
Can you post a few pics including a pic of what's failing off of the ceiling? . http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

More info

The ceiling is the original. There is no water damage. And the pieces falling are very small but make a mess. Is there anything I could do to seal the ceiling?

What do you think caused the problem? If it's not water, why do you want to seal it?

Before we can advise what to do next we need to identify what is coming off of the ceiling. I'm not sure what the newer MH ceilings are made of but they aren't cellotex like the older ones. The texture is molded into the ceiling material and isn't apt to come off in small bits. I assume from your description that the chunks coming off don't results in holes in the ceiling.

If someone has textured over the MH ceiling, it is likely that the texture will need to be removed before you can go further. Can you post pics?
