Double layer of drywall help?

I moved into a home recently that backs up to a traveled road. The previous owners added an addition (bedroom & family room) - 1/2in drywall and R13 insulation. The road noise coming in is annoying. Would adding a layer of 5/8in drywall over the existing wall cut down on the noise? If not, what would?

There is a product called Quietrock available. I don't know too much about it but I've seen it in use and it does help. I left you a link to the product.

Maybe others have more to offer on this subject.

They may have used just fiberglass batts instead of a product like Roxul which would have been far more effective.
Overview
Here's some suggestion on how to sound proof a wall.

Cheap builders grade or old single windows, no insulation around the window frames and doors can also effect the sound transmission.
