Diagonal bracing for roof. Can I tie it in to a rafter tie?

I'm about done building a 16'x7' greenhouse out of redwood. To give myself maximum headroom, I used rafter ties 1/3 of the way up the rafter. The last thing I need to do is add some bracing for the roof on the gable ends. The gable at the back of the greenhouse faces west and will bear most of the force of the wind. The walls have diagonal bracing already and don't budge an inch. The ridge board is supported at either end by a 2x4 directly over a stud.

Can I diagonally brace the gable end against the rafter tie 4' away? If I have to, I can run it over to the top plate of the walls, but they are 6' tall and I'd prefer not to have to worry about ducking anywhere in the greenhouse.

You can diagonally brace from the ridge to the ridge support at a higher point. Ideally, yes, to the top plate, but you are limited on headroom.
