Laminating drywall over ceiling

I'm hanging 1/2" over the existing ceiling, my question is do ya'll have any tips on finishing it. I'm not going to plaster so we are just going to compound it as smooth as possible and then paint.

It would be a good idea to use drywall adhesive between the joists to help prevent sag .... and of course use screws long enough to secure the drywall to the joists.

You would tape and finish the drywall just like you would a wall. Not using any texture means you need to do an extra nice finishing job.
