I have an old model probably relatively cheap Zircon stud finder called a StudSensor2. I've never had much success with it accurately detecting studs behind even average sheetrock covered interior walls with wooden studs. It almost always gives ambiguous results and is frustrating to hassle with because of that. In fact that's been my experience with most stud finders I've ever had occasion to use. So I'm in the market for a decent one I can rely on most of the time to help me [B]accurately[/B] (non-amiguously) detect wooden studs up to behind as thick as 5/8" sheetrock with 1/2" plywood behind it, and as well with the ability to detect metal studs behind such. Not that that is the thickness and material I'll always be searching for studs through, but still I want that ability. Like anything else there's plenty of different types and models from which to choose. I'm not a professional remodeler or anything like who may require the best and most expensive, but perhaps there is sort of a "semi-professional" handyman type model available. The reviews on the online shopping places for the various models are ambiguous as well. And I'm not fond of at all of ambiguous. Hard to determine which one to consider buying when one guy says its great while the next guy says it sucks. I suppose I'm prepared to spend up to 50 bucks, or maybe 75 if necessary, but not much more. Any suggestions/comments? Thanks

Hello everyone! About eight years ago, I made the impulsive decision to buy an old church (built in 1904) and renovate it into a home. After tens of thousands of dollars, as well as hours of DIY, I've really fallen in love with it.... however, new problems seem to emerge on a monthly basis. Yesterday, I noticed that one of the boards of the VERY high cathedral ceiling upstairs had bowed. I've almost run my "renovation fund" dry at this point, and I'd love some recommendations as to what I should do now. I'm definitely willing to hire a professional if needed, but don't know who I should be calling. Is it just minor a wood-warping issue, or is it something more serious? I had my windows done last summer, and the person I hired to do them mentioned that the exterior brick was starting to shift inward. Help! Thanks in advance :)
