pillowed ceiling?! really need the help for baby's room.

Hi. My husband and i bought the first house six months ago.
I recently found out the ceiling has pillowed in baby's room and that makes me worried about baby's security.
My husband and i really don't know about diagnosing and fixing the problems about the ceiling.
Could you tell me if it is dangerous and needs to be fixed.
Or is it common?

Thank you for any comments

Welcome to the forums! It looks to be a normal knock down textured ceiling. What are your specific worries. No asbestos since about 1977, so unlikely with that design. It is made with joint compound.

Sagging drywall is fairly common when builders use 1/2" drywall instead of 5/8" on the ceiling. Unless there is water damage or a bunch of nail pops it's highly unlikely that the ceiling will fall.
