Asbestos in ceiling joint compound
i'm planning to get raid of the popcorn ceiling in the 1 of the bedroom and unfortunately, discovered(after lab testing) a 3% chrysotile asbestos in the ceiling drywall joint compound. the ceiling is uneven (possibly due to leaking problems the previous owner had and why texture finishing is use in this room only) and i wanted to remove the entire ceiling and put up new drywalls. I was thinking about take on this project myself, but now with the asbestos... should i seek professional help on this?
I looked up some asbestos removal procedures and understand that abatement guys will need to seal off the entire working area to prevent contamination, but since the insulation is right behind the ceiling, does the whole attic need to be sealed for the job? does anyone know how much this will likely cost? my room is about 160sqft.Thanks!

The only way to get any type of price check would be to have an asbestos abatement company come and give an estimate, hopefully there is more than one in your area to choose from. Asbestos is mostly hazardous when it dry powder/dust form. Is the asbestos in the j/c or just the texture?
