putting sheetrock over brick, need help!

All, i need to sheetrock this wall and about 40 feet of this kind of wall in two other rooms. Here's what im thinking? attach treated 2 by 4's flat against the wall (2 ft apart) to allow for electrical boxes. Foam board insulation in between the boards. Does this sound right? The brick you see is the interior brick wall, the xterior brick is roman brick. I haven't performed a mositure test, but the 3/4 slats i took of the other wall didn't appear to damaged by moisture.

suggestions, thoughts?

thanks

Basically you have 2 choices; to fur it out like you stated or build a stud wall in front of the brick. Is any of the wall below grade?

1 1/2" is not much room to run wiring, and 2x4's layed flat will be a pain to drill through for cable. It like wiring your free standing wall built with 2x2's. If it was me I would build a normal stud wall.
