adding doorway through existing wall for new masterbath in old bedroom.

I am pretty good at this type of remodel as I helped my father years ago with this type of project. My main concern now is with asbestos content of the old drywall. I have number designations on the back of the drywall wall that is exposed and wondering where one could check the content? the number on back is : DAG 12:27 12/12/10 GPE.

Drywall doesn't contain asbestos. And that sheet of drywall is from 2010.

I am hanging drywall in a room where the height is not quite exactly 8 foot. Someone told me that when you 'hang' drywall, it should not touch the floor. (The floor is wood if that matters.) So, I'm thinking I should cut it at the bottom edge so that it is not touching the floor. My question is: Is it important that the Drywall NOT touch the floor? or is it ok if it does?Read More

uh oh... corner bead mistake.

Hello everyone, I am currently in the process of renovating an old house and I just made my first potentially not-so-easy-to-fix mistake. Basically, I knocked down a wall between my kitchen and my living room, and I am now plastering. I've just noticed that on one of the inside corners (side of a wall to ceiling), I didnt properly install my corner bead and now that there is plaster on it, it looks crooked. (as though one corner of the wall is higher than the other). [ATTACH]35514[/ATTACH] I was thinking just applying a thicker layer of plaster to one side, but I feel it may be fragile and defies the whole corner of having a corner bead in the first place.. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps an old trade secret? Thanks in advance! p.s. please disregard the less than ideal plastering job, I usually end up sanding and putting more coats than the pros, but I always get it in the end! p.p.s.
