Double Up Backer Board for Shower Wall?

So I put up some 4X8 1/2" Durock on the long side of the shower because I didn't want any seems on my wall. It looks great. But it's flimsy. I can push it in between the studs and see the flex. Studs vary from 10" to 16" on center. I bought 1/4" single sheet Onyx walls for the shower, I will NOT be putting tile up.

So since I hate the flex here is what I was thinking...

I was thinking of putting 1/2" hardie backer on top of the durock with thinset in between, essentially doubling the layer of the wall, to stiffin it up. I realize this will give me little room on the long side of the tub which I'm OK with.

What would you do?

Info:
Bathroom wall is 72" long, not 60". There is a 12" shower seat behind the 60" tub.

I have used duro rock many times, and I never seen the need to add another layer, but If you want too, Then you can. I have done many tile jobs and never had a recall on my work. Putting two layers never hurt. Good luck

Mistake #1, using 1/4" on walls. You need to use 1/2". You can double it up, but I would not exceed 1/4" as it may interfere with the tub/shower lip if you use 1/2". 3x5 sheets of hardie or durock will be easier to handle. Seams are little worry, just use proper mesh tape and thinset.

I used 1/2 not 1/4 - the Onyx is what is 1/4. I put on thin set with 1/4 hardie and it's very stiff so now I'm good.
