Paint the walls, or Sand and seal the floors first?

I just purchased a new home. I want to paint the ceiling, walls and refinish the hardwood floors throughout the house. What comes first? The walls, or the floors?

Thanks

I'd work top down so that you aren't dropping things on something you've already finished.

Definitely top down especially if there is already some sort of finish on the floor to prevent any paint splatter from soaking into the pores of the wood.

So does that mean that I dont really need to worry about protecting the floors?

I would still make some effort to protect the floors.

You don't want to go crazy but any paint that gets on the floor will get sanded off when they go to finish the hardwood. When the floors are sanded, dust will get on the walls but it can be removed with a soft brush or rag.
