should i prime drywall before applying ceiling texture or orangepeel to walls
#1

getting all kinds of advice on texture and orangepeel.
should i prime before texture and orangepeel, add primer
to the texture and orangepeel mix, or prime and paint
after applying the texture and orangepeel?

here's what i found out.
the aristex company says no more than 1 gal of paint
per 40lb bag. which meant 1 gal of paint to 3 or 4 gal
water.
the paint company doesn't recommend diluting their paint.
a friend told me that his was done with a 50/50 mix of
paint and water but every time he touches the ceiling
some of it falls off.
so i primed walls and ceiling, then textured and orangepeeled, waited for that to dry, then painted.
results are good. you can touch the ceiling and nothing
falls off. also used about half the paint that a 50/50
mix would have required.
