What is my wall made of??

New homeowner here looking for some advice or direction. Plan is to put up a brick veneer wall over the existing 8' x 17' plaster wall in my dining room. The house is a row home built in the 1960's and the wall I plan to do has about 1/4" to 3/8" of plaster over cinder blocks. My plan is the following: I got a bunch of Hardiebacker EZ Grid from a buddy from a leftover job of his...so I already have that. I want to screw and glue the hardibacker to the plaster using the following: - 1-3/4" anchor bolts - modified thinset(still researching brands) Next I was going to use a mastic glue to attach the brick veneer to the hardibacker Final step would be to point it. I tried doing research on this but I couldn't find to many brick veneer installations over plaster. My questions are: Are there any apparent flaws in my plan? Also can anyone recommend a good thinset? Also if my plan is complete garbage I'm open to suggestions. Appreciate any feedback

I am in the process of putting quarter round molding next to the stairs. I should of taken a picture before I took the old molding off. The problem is that the wall bulges on the right side of the stairs (maybe its from the studs settling?) It is very solid. What I mean is that no matter how hard I push in, it does not budge at all. Any ideas how to address this issue? It does this on the upper right side of the stairs also.
