Hello,

I am trying to address an issue that needs to be fixed, in two of the bathrooms around the window's round metallic frame the circular wall that surrounds the window is damaged (3 photos) :

1) Screenshot by Lightshot

2) Screenshot by Lightshot

3) Screenshot by Lightshot

Can anyone identify what material is that (the white part that is peeling off) ?
Only in the bathrooms have i spotted this type of damage and i would assume it would be because of the excessive moisture being next to the bath?
Is it possible to be asbestos that i should replace immediately as it is potentially a health hazard or is it cement, lime, or is it just paint, i am completely clueless hence i request help. The house was built in 1989 - 1990.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like plaster or something similar. Based on the age of the house, I doubt that there is asbestos in it. It may not have been caused by moisture in the bathroom. The windows could be leaking. Determine if that is the case before you make the repair. Is there an exhaust fan in the bathroom?

Thanks for the response. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. So this isn't the case of just peeled off paint?

Looks to be deeper than just the paint.
