drywall repair help needed
We recently had carbon fiber strips applied to a basement wall to keep it from moving any further (it was bowing inward about an inch with a horizontal crack). The company that did the repair had to remove the drywall from top to bottom in two separate sections of the finished part of the basement. The width of drywall removed is between two studs for both sections (the other carbon fiber strips were applied in an unfinished portion of the basement).
I've seen how to repair large sections of drywall by screwing in overlapping pieces of plywood on the backside of the drywall) but the drywall was removed flush with the stud.
Suggestions on how to repair would be most helpful.

I'd cut back another 3/4" so you have half the stud to work with, just like installing new drywall.

Another technique is to screw 1x2 or 1x3 lumber to the inside of the studs, flush with the face of the studs.
It's rather difficult to cut drywall down the middle of a stud. If I do cut it, I use an oscillating tool.

You may have heard that carbon fiber is stronger than steel beam supports, especially when combined with the epoxy and installation method. It comes with a life of the structure warranty so even if it does fail I'm covered. Oh yeah...it's thinner and lighter so I can paint over it or whatever...AND it's a less expensive repair method, by far.
