Removing mirror attached with double-sided tape from the wall

Hello,

there are two IKEA curly mirrors attached on the wall
with double-sided tape which apparently is too strong to remove.
I tried using a thin rope behind the mirror in order to detach the tape but it did not work.
I need to remove those mirrors with the minimum wall-damage possible.

Could you please help me?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums! It is highly unlikely you will be able to remove the mirrors without damage to the walls, nor to the mirrors. Is it your intention to keep the mirrors intact? How large are the mirrors?

I am posting an image. I would really like to keep the mirrors intact!

I also found this video: She is using a strong thread...

Could I do something similar?

Thank you for your help!

Using a string may be an option. Dental floss is strong, but be sure to use something on each end to keep from cutting your fingers. I'm not sure if it is still available, but in construction we used Jet Line cord to fish cable into conduit. Basically it was dental floss on steroids. Try slightly heating the mirrors with a hair dryer first to soften the glue on the tape. You have limited space, so the flatter you keep your string the better.

Thank you very much,
I will give it a shot.
Is that fishing line? This would be better than dental floss, right?

(Dental floss was too weak - it broke..)

Well, now that you mention it, a very fine fishing line may work, too.

I have in the past.

Whatever you try to cut thru the foam tape with..... you need to use a sawing motion..... pull back and forth. The foam is too strong to just pull the string thru.

You could use fine wire like a guitar string too. You would need to wrap the wire around something so as not to cut your hand.

I have successfully used a PVC wire saw found in the plumbing section. Pete is correct, use a sawing action with the wire. HDX PVC Cable Saw-TUO0002J - The Home Depot
