Question

Can you give me any information about skimcoating drywall. I have a wall that has several layers of paint, maybe some wallpaper paste that was not completely removed, and the surface is cracking, peeling, etc. I have some experience patching holes and taping joints, but have never tried to skimcoat before. This is my last choice before tearing out the existing drywall and starting over. Thanks.

Read my reply to "mjorg: texturing old walls with new wall" for an idea. It's not skipcoating, but it might work for you.
