Drywall issues

Just finished floating a Sheetrock wall
Thought everything was smooth until I painted and had some areas that were not sanded smooth showing thru the paint
I let the wall dry and thought I could sand it down and repaint
Can't get it to sand down hardly at all
Are there any tricks or tips to smooth this out now

You will need to skim coat over it... sand it so it's smooth, roll on some primer, then you will be back to square one... and that wall will need another 1st and 2nd coats of wall paint.

As X said, latex paint doesn't sand well but skimming a thin coat of mud over the paint and then sanding will work well. Shinning a bright light on the wall and viewing from an angle will help to highlight any defects in the finish.

As you've seen, paint often makes defects more visible (especially the higher sheens) so you really have to work to get the wall perfect before breaking out the primer and paint.
