Bathroom ceiling

I picked up old fir that was used outside. Im thinking of installing it onto the strapping to make a new bathroom ceiling after removing damaged acoustical tile.

I assume I should add plastic sheeting as a moisture barrier first.
Add some poly to resist moisture.
What type of nail or screw should I use?
Anything else?

That seems to be a lot of weight. I would probably use decking screws if I attempted it at all.

I'd be concerned about mold/mildew installing those used exterior boards in a bath rm.

I wouldn't do it but if I did I'd be sealing all six sides of the wood first, installing with deck screws and then adding at least another coat of poly after installation.
