Removing supporting wall
I am removing a wall between kitchen and dining area. Originally my plan was to add a 4ply 2x8 with joist hangers to replace the wall. If you see the photo, once I opened the ceiling I saw there is a staggers beam which bears down on a post in the wall I am wanting to remove. I am not sure how to do this easily now without doing a drop beam. My original plan was to span from outside wall to the interior wall approx 11’. One side would be sitting on outer foundation and the other directly over the I beam in basement. Is there any way to get around using a drop beam in this situation.

You will have to link to your picture using another photo sharing site. Photobucket no longer allows free direct image links on 3rd party sites. The link may work for you but not for us. Or you could try linking to the folder that the image is in. (And make the folder public).

For those interested in looking at his pictures, copy and paste the link above, but replace the stars with tinypic dot com. I don't know why this site blanks out that url.
