Load bearing partition wall
Hey all, I'm planning a kitchen remodel and a part of it is removing this hideous wall. I'm mostly sure it's not load bearing, but it does run perpendicular to the ceiling joists so I'm a little worried. Can anyone tell by looking at this if it's load bearing or not? If not how can I check short of gutting all the drywall first?
Thanks!

If it's not touching the ceiling, it's not load bearing. There may be structure inside the adjoining walls where your half wall meets but the section that only goes part way up is not load bearing. Just remember when doing demo that there can be electrical wiring or plumbing in there somewhere so don't go crazy like TV show.
