Does anybody know what this is?

Doing some work on the third floor of my house. House is about 100 years old. Not sure when the third floor was finished. Many of the walls are not drywall. They are covered in some kind of board, which is nailed to the studs. Pictures below. Wondering if anybody can tell me what this material is? Any hazards associated with it?

Thanks.

Fiberboard/celotex. Looks foil faced.

Celotex: cheap, somewhat insulative and easy to put up. Made of processed wood fiber product. I don't know about hazards. In the days when it was used there was not much concern about such things. Suppose it could have asbestos. Never heard about it.

According to google, Celotex has made a lot of products over the years. And was sued into bankruptcy for asbestos issues. Ish.

Does anybody out there know more about that, or the product in my pictures?

It looks like celotex to me. Probably the only sure fire way to know if there is asbestos in it would be to have it tested.

Thanks everybody.

I sent it into a lab. Had a few other questionable materials in the same room. I've exposed myself to plenty of horrors, and it's never too late to stop. Testing was cheap.

Don't loose too much sleep over it. Not trying to minimize the dangers of asbestos but most of those with lung issues from asbestos were those exposed to it on a daily/weekly basis.

The other thing is most problem materials are safe or non-hazardous when not disturbed. The problems begin when the fibers become airborne and are breathed in.
