Use caulk to fasten sheetrock?
Someone told me their drywall contractor uses caulk (adhesive?) to adhere sheetrock to studs... use screws to help press it tight against studs then remove the screws after it dries... never any nail pops.
Good idea? Even for a basement wall?

It's fairly common to use adhesive in a caulking tube when hanging drywall. It allows you to use less screws but I've never ever heard of anyone removing the screws after the adhesive cures!

You do both, drywall adhesive to adhere drywall to studs, screws to hold everything in place, you never remove the screws!

The key word here is caulk! Caulk is normally refereed to for sealing around sinks and windows. Mastic or construction adhesive is what is used to attach drywall. Big difference! Both come in a caulk gun applicator.
