Load bearing post/wall?
Hi there. My family and I purchased our forever home last December and im now getting around to some projects. One that is on the back burner but I plan to work on in winter or spring is to remove a post that separates our kitchen from another room (could be a dining room or family room. All indicators tell me this post is likely not bearing any load but if like other opinions before tearing in. The post and wall run directly between the exterior wall and main structural wall that runs through the center of the house. The small area of wall above the post is parallel to the floor and ceiling joists. The small area of wall above the post is not a beam but rather a short studded wall. I have located where the post sits from the basement and it is nailed to the subfloor between 2 joists. Directly above the post is where our master bath and closet sit. I have included a couple of pictures for reference. Hopefully they work!
