old drywall

I am redoing old house. Has bare drywall in a room that is bout 5 years old it is taped. Appears in good condition. Can I just clean it up then prime/seal and let sit until I finish the house and then texture it and prime/seal over the textured finish and paint?
Project is taking more time than I originally anticipated.

Probably, but the thing you might run into is j/c deteriorates when not painted. Your latex primer might soften the j/c making the tape come loose. You'll know when you apply the primer or shortly thereafter.

A few years ago I finally painted and finished one of my garages. It had gone 15 years with just the first pass of mud and bare sheetrock. I did the final mudding work to make it nice and smooth and painted. Three years on and there have been no issues.

Add temp room

Hi - I'm in need of a temporary (few years) bedroom. Thinking of taking my 14 x 22 foot family room and putting up a temporary but solid full wall up at about the 8 foot mark making it an 8 x 14 foot room with an entry door.. Don't want any wiring in the wall as there are already enough outlets in the room. Plus I want easy take down when the time comes. Am I crazy to try this? It's for a 6 year old. I was thinking of putting non-opening windows at the top of the wall to let in more light as there would be no outside windows. Also figure I need a return vent into the rest of the family room. There is an air duct in the part of the room that would be closed it. I can't imagine it would be too expensive to have that done. Do I consider hiring a contractor or a handyman? As always - Thanks

Plastering brick wall - partial hard plaster

So I have an old house with an internal brick wall that’s has hard plaster directly applied to it. i was planning on skimming the old plaster (which I am for the entire house), however, the hard plaster in the bathroom already on the bricks was a bit weak in adhesion at the bottom of the wall, so decided to pull it away from the wall (which came off relatively easily). The hard plaster at the middle and top of the wall is pretty solidly attached and also don’t really want to attempt to remove it if I can leave it on. questions is what does everyone recommend to get this wall finished to a flat finished standard? i was thinking of either: 1. Dot and dab plasterboard onto brick wall at the bottom only, and the replastering entire wall, (skimming the top), and plastering bottom. 2. Attach furring strips to brick wall at the bottom, and attach plasterboard with screws, the skimming, top of wall, and plastering bottom 3. Remove all the hard plaster - and either dot and dab and replastering, or furring strips and replaster. What does everyone recommend? please keep in mind, I’m not a professional, this is the first time I’m refurbish an entire house, but I know how to plaster and skim, just not sure what best option in terms of ensuring minimising issues during plaster wall, vs time it all takes to sort out. the bricks behind the hard plaster seems decent enough and mortar looks like it’s pretty solid still despite house age. will try attach pictures shortly
