Drywall thickness on ceiling with 24" centers...

I have a new build addition with 24 inch center trusses. I'm getting ready to hang drywall and not sure what thickness would be best. I have 19 inches of insulation in the ceiling which seems a little heavy seeing the insulation is sagging down below my ceiling trusses and the drywall would have to push up on it. I noticed the drywall Home Depot has all says "Ultralight" extremely lightweight and weights up to 30% less than regular drywall, I'm afraid that Ultralight 1/2 inch may sag being 24 inches apart pushing up on the weight of the insulation, should I use 5/8 drywall instead?

I've always seen 5/8" used with 24" joist spacing.

I agree, 5/8" is best for ceilings and the only good choice when the ceiling joists are on 24" centers.

Yes, you never use 1/2" if its 24 on center and will have insulation laying on it.

Yep, has to be 5/8" with that spacing. 1/2" is only ok with 16" OC.

Another quick question, what length drywall screws are best for hanging 5/8" drywall?
