Remove popcorn or no?

I got some crown molding that was added before I moved here and there is popcorn ceiling. It's all white but where they meet there is gaps. Do i seal that with caulking, do I remove the crown and then remove the popcorn then reapply the crown?

Personal preference but the trend is to remove the popcorn!

I would lean towards leaving the moldings on.
Then fill with paintable calk later.
All depends on the size extent of the gaps.

I've never liked popcorn, probably because it's a paint to paint. I'd remove the popcorn, skim coat the ceiling as needed and then caulk the crown to the ceiling. If the gaps are too wide for caulk I'd install a narrow molding to hide the gap - maybe shoe mold.
