drywall transport
Saturday I need to go get 6 sheets of 5/8" drywall 12' long. My truck bed including the tailgate is just under 9'. Will the unsupported 3' be an issue? I could buy three 12' 2x4s but I'd rather not if they're not needed.

If you have a ratchet strap you can strap all 6 together. A couple 2x4s would be cheap insurance. Or take a sheet or scrap of plywood with you... Anything you can strap under them is better than nothing. Even if it's 4 or 6ft long it will protect the drywall from snapping if it bounces on the tailgate.

I had a scrap piece of 5/8" OSB that would have been perfect but I cut it up a couple of weeks ago to replace the water heater closet floor at my stepson's trailer. I guess I'll plan on getting some 2x4s. You think 2 would be enough? It only has to go about 5 miles.
I originally planned to get 8' sheets because they are easier to handle but Lowes sells 12' sheets for the same price as 8'. Hopefully we can get enough help where I won't have to lift them.

Yep 2 will be fine. Put them at 12" and 36". And if you can, put a ratchet strap around the whole thing.

Yesterday sure didn't go as planned. Even though their website claims they have 84 12' sheets of 5/8" in stock, the store claims they don't sell 12' 5/8" boards. So I got 8' boards and it took them 25 minutes to bring them out to the truck and load them for me ..... and the store wasn't busy.
Also found out that the framers [us] didn't do a good job of spacing the trusses
