Need advice on raising bedroom(s) ceilings

First thanks to all for sharing their knowledge and experience.
Have a 3 season cabin that needs some TLC. Now working inside. The building was built in the early 1900's as part of a kids camp and clearly built anticipating no modern improvements. There are 2 bedrooms, each 16' long and 10' wide attached to either end of the "big room". The roof is a simple "A" supported by 2x4 rafters on 24"oc. Length of rafters is about 62-64"

It was open to the roof for years and about 15 years ago the previous owner ran 2"x4" framing across the 10' span on 24' centers and installed R-19 batts to insulate then dropped down about 7" and hung a metal frame suspended ceiling tile ceiling. Then a ceiling fan/light thus anyone near 6' can't clear the light.

I want to raise the ceiling height, so this weekend took down the suspended ceilings in both rooms and saw the fully insulated ceiling and thought I might be able to hang sheetrock and be done. Here are my questions....
1. The sheetrock framing is 2x4, 24oc across a 10' span, can I hang sheetrock across that span?
2. If no what are my options?
- Can I sister the 2x4' s with 2x6's at 24"OC across the 10' span and then reinsulate and sheetrock?
- If not, if I remove the 2x4's (there are only 9) run 2x6 at 16"oc across the 10"span can I hang the sheetrock?
- Or can I leave the 2x4s in place, run a beam (2x8 or 2x10 on edge) perpendicular to the joists at the midpoint, support both ends of the beam with wall studs down to the plate and then tie the 2x4s at 24oc up into the beam and sheetrock, at this point the 2x4 are spanning 5' at 24oc?
3. Finally....out of curiosity, if I am going to pull all that insulation down and do one of those three, can I install additional 2x6 roof rafters at 16" oc, (currently 2x4 at 24oc, have foam insulation blown in and hang the sheetrock from the new 2x6 roof rafters getting a cathedral effect"?
THANK YOU!!!!

Your local building code is what you need to check. My new house required 16 inch centers for the ceiling. 24 for the walls.
They make a metal hat channel that is about 1 inch high. You could cross install that and then hang the drywall.

I will not go into checking to see if the structure can support the extra weight of the drywall.
