Remove mortar from drywall

I tore down a glass block wall, and there's some residual mortar still clinging to the painted drywall. I removed a good portion with a masonry chisel, but it ain't perfect. What's the best way to make that wall smooth and paintable again? (Without replacing that section of wall...)

Thanks

Smooth out the area with drywall mud, sand, prime and paint.

I'd scrape off what I could and then do as PD suggested. Is the drywall textured?

... it is now.

No, just a regular smooth wall. I can apply a layer of mud and disguise it. Thanks.

Don't skip the priming part. You only have to prime the areas that got sheet rock mud but it needs to be done to keep the repair from telegraphing through the paint.
