Sagging ceiling in the corner of my screened in patio - help!!!
Hi. Just as the title says - not from water damage. I don't even know who I should call to try to fix it. Handyman, drywaller, or ???? I had a 'handyman' out for this very same issue a few years back. All he did was add some nails to the area - which worked at least until now.
I am clueless as to even how to ask for help for this.
I agree. I assume that is a drywall ceiling and moisture has deteriorated it some where nails/screws in that corner will no longer hold well. A 1x2 along the perimeter should hold it in place.
I agree a support strip around the perimeter and more fasteners in the field area to distribute the weight.
What I don't like to see is your hanging hook in the corner came down with the ceiling. That means the hook was not into the structure above and the weight of the plant or whatever you hung was also trying to pull the ceiling down.
Didn't get a notice of these posts until today - not sure why the delay.
Pilot Dane - The pic is a bit misleading, in that the hanging hook isn't from the ceiling. It is affixed to the brown support beam. I didn't realize how it looks until you pointed it out.
The one and only handyman I have found so far agrees with everyone here - additional screws in the drywall and a support strip around the perimeter attached to the support beam to help hold up the ceiling. He said that the drywall doesn't appear to be damaged enough to replace that piece.
I have a bad ceiling patch in a home I just purchased. It’s seems to taunt me every time I walk by. It does looks saggy as i think they built it up too much. It is dry and sound per home inspector. It just looks bad. Anyone have any ideas how to blend in a bit especially the edges? Thank you in advance.
