Drilling into plaster?


How do I get a screw to stay in this? Thank you!!

Looks like holes for a towel bar bracket.
Plaster isn't forgiving when it comes to mounting things thru it.

You should have wood lathe behind it.
At this point I'd use 1/8" toggle bolts for mounting. You can get them almost everywhere.
You may have to enlarge the holes slightly to get the toggle thru.

They will hold without fail.

Toggle bolts like PJmax showed are good. There are also some other styles of insert/molly+ that expand or flip a bar across on the back side of the hole to squeeze the plaster. You do not want a molly or insert that expands inside the hole like is used in brick or cement block.
