We decided to remove a wall to make our entry way bigger. When we removed the door frame we noticed the wall was made of a red brick material. Not a nice brick. I'm trying to find examples of this online and I'm not successful. Anyone know what this is called and the best way to tear it down? I can tell it's going to be messy. Brick wall? what is this?
Take a look above for anything that wall may be supporting. In many parts of the world masonry is used for interior walls. Sometimes they are structural, sometimes not.
I am having a tile floor in a bathroom replaced, and have to remove the old original "splash" guards along the walls myself, hopefully with a minimum of damage to the drywall it was fastened to 60 Years ago. Is their a professional trick to doing this correctly? Read More
Hello,I am currently renovating an older bathroom and have successfully demolished the wire and mud wall. However, the ceiling is constructed using the same material. I am now considering my options, whether to work with the existing ceiling or remove it entirely. Nevertheless, I am apprehensive about the considerable effort involved in tearing it down.
My main concern is cutting off the wire that hangs at the edge and effectively patching up the portion I removed, so that I can install a drywall against it. Additionally, I am uncertain about using waterproof seam tape on the mud ceiling. Will there be any complications if I need to apply plaster over the tape to level the ceiling? Also, what type of material should I use that would be compatible with both the tape and provide a smooth finish?
If I ultimately decide to remove the ceiling, would it be best for me to access the attic and use a downward hammering motion to bring it down?
Any recommendations would be appreciated
