Wear gloves, glasses and a hat. Run a utility knife around the mirror to keep drywall damage confined. Lay down some heavy drop cloths. Put a drop cloth over the mirror and take a hammer to it every 12 inches. Use a flat bar or chissel and hammer to remove the remaining pieces. Skim the wall with compound, prime and paint. The other option is to get your hands on a Woods 8 or 10" vacume cup and attempt to pull the mirror from the wall though glass breakage and drywall damage will still be a risk.
