Question

What if there is a load bearing wall to where I would like to place and passthrough/doorway in said wall, where would one begin? I know you have resupport what you remove but what about determining if it is a laod bearing wall or not -any characteristics on how far it should extend through the house etc.???

Look in your attic if the wall is running paralel to the ceiling rafters it is not load bearing. If it's running across the rafters it is load bearing. to determine how far it goes pull the insulation back and look at the top plate of the wall and see how far it runs. Good Luck
