If you would like to make your walls smooth then you will have to skim over the entire wall. Material needed: Light weight joint compound. Tools needed: Twelve inch knife, six inch knife, mud pan. First coat will fill in any swirls and divits. Second coat will fill in after shrinkage and final coat will be like glass. Sand. Make sure you don't put too much on during any stage. Less is more when skimming walls.
