leaking window well

i'll try to keep this short, but our window well is leaking. the water must be coming in through the bottom of the window well, because it's covered.

now, the ground level is about 3-4 inches below the bottom of the window well surround. what might be the best way to keep this thing from leaking??

if any more info is needed, please let me know . . . and thanks in advance!

Unless you have a water table at about 3 inches, the water is coming in from the top and sides.

A window well cover is not intended to keep out all water, just a lot of leaves, rain, snow.

You should have a drain in the bottom of the window well. This is usually just a short piece of pipe that leads away from the house. Check that the drain is not covered with leaves. If you don't have a drain, you may want to consider putting one in. Cost is under $10 and it will save you replacing your basement window.
