Question Drywall Sanding

I am sanding my first drywall job and in two areas I can see the tape through the mud but I did not sand into the tape. It is just below the surface of the mud but you can see it with a light. Will this be a problem or will a PVC primer cover it up.

Cool

Primer may cover it up if there is just enough smooth mud over it.
Here is a drywall sanding article that may help you from Reader's Digest "The Family Handyman" magazine:

Good Luck!

If the tape is showing chances are your seem is not finished correctly. A good way to check is take your twelve inch knife, put it on the seem so the blade goes across. Now if there is any rocking with the blade the seem needs more mud on one side or the other or both. You can also do this with some other form of straight edge like a level.

paint covers nothing. If fact it makes your drywall mistakes more visible. If you can see it prior to painting, fix it. You should not be able to tell the diffence between mud and paper when moving your hand across a seam. Don't trust just your eyes.
