Cathedral ceilings / ice dams

Hi, this is my first time, and I would like info on what we should do with the new roof we had installed, to prevent ice dams.

Any suggestions would be apprecaited.
The roof faces south east.

insulate to stop any source of heat escaping into the space between the ceiling and roof, such as light fixtures, vent pipes, duct work, etc. make sure you have proper ventilation. don't block ventilation intakes with insulation. you need a cold air space between the ceiling and roof. the idea is to keep the roof cold to insure that no premature melting happens before mother nature says it's time.
