Question Pilot flame not ignited-Envirotemp

I have a 1 year old Envirotemp 40 gallon gas water heater. For some reason the pilot flame has gone out and since I was not the original purchaser of the heater (I just bought the house) I do not have the manual to figure out how to troubleshoot the issue.
Any suggestions on what to do?

I wasn't familar with the Envirotemp name. Must be regional. I did a Google and found it is made by American. I assume it has a sealed front door and a piezo igniter. Button you push attached to control to light pilot. IF the tcouple is bad and this is a FVIR model you have to have an exact replacement. American uses lefthanded tcouples with a fuse link built into them. Also I noticed a recall you may want to check out. Does your serial number start with 0124 thru 0127. Phone # to call 800-999-9515
