Replace now or wait

Ok guys! I have a 1960's RUUD Holiday water heater! Their is nothing wrong with it! No leaks, Heat's fine! I purchased a State water heater two yrs ago for the day that the Ruud dies! My wife is sick of seeing it in the middle of the floor. My question to you is it worth it to replace before the Rudd dies? I don't see an advantaged to replace it now do you ( other than some extra insulation). Also my new water heater might only last 5 yrs so why don't I keep my old one in tell it dies! Your thoughts????

Electric of gas? A 60's vintage electric water heater is likely to be very energy inefficient. If I already had the replacement on hand (and had to listen to my spouse nag me about it) I would go ahead and replace it. Among other things, the old one will likely finally fail when you can least afford to be without hot water. Do it this week and save on buying the wife a Christmas present.
